Lot 33: A Trio of Silver-Plated Serving Items Including a Coffee Pot and Two Trays
A trio of silver-plated serving items comprising a coffee pot and two trays. The coffee pot is of mid-20th-century tapered cylindrical form with a polished finish, featuring a short spout and a black composite D-shaped handle secured by metal ferrules. The hinged lid is topped with a matching black finial. The collection includes two trays by Wm Rogers and Sons: a large oval tray and a circular gallery tray. The oval tray is decorated with a heavily engraved central well of foliate scrolls, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs, finished with a gadrooned border to the raised rim. The circular gallery tray features a pierced gallery rim with a repeating pattern of vertical oval cutouts and a beaded top edge, with a central field of matching foliate scrollwork.
Condition report:
The items show signs of age and use. Both the oval and circular trays exhibit significant wear to the silver plating, particularly within the central engraved areas, exposing the warmer-toned base metal beneath. The coffee pot has light surface scratches and minor tarnishing, but the plating is largely intact. The black composite elements on the coffee pot are in good condition. An orange adhesive price tag is present on the circular tray.
