Lot 93: Two Mid-Century Clear Glass Musical Decanters with Internal Figurines
Two clear glass decanters of matching bulbous form, likely intended for liqueurs or spirits. The primary upright decanter features a clear blown glass body with a tapered neck and a bulbous base. Within the base of the decanter is a secondary internal glass dome containing two miniature figurines, a male figure in black and a female figure in a pink dress, standing upon a circular white platform. The decanter is set into a gold-coloured metal base which contains a mechanical musical movement, indicated by a circular winding aperture. Decorative accents include a black and gold-coloured mesh pattern applied to the lower body and the neck, with a gold-coloured metal chain draped around the collar. The second decanter is shown in a horizontal orientation and appears to be of similar glass construction and form.
Condition report:
The glass elements of both decanters appear to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or significant abrasions. The internal figurines are intact. The gold-coloured metal bases and decorative mesh overlays exhibit light surface wear and minor tarnishing consistent with age and handling. The mechanical functionality of the music box movements has not been tested and is unconfirmed.
