Lot 162: A Pair of Speedy Pig Style Boat-Tail Racing Cars
A pair of lithographed tinplate boat-tail racing cars in the style of the Tipp & Co. Speedy Pig, attributed to Schylling as contemporary reproductions of the 1930s original. Each car is finished in a dark teal ground with red, yellow, and black decorative graphics. The vehicles are piloted by lithographed pig figures depicted in brown jackets with pink faces. The wheels feature yellow rims with red detailing and are inscribed with the text BALLON CORD on the outer faces. These items are constructed from folded and tabbed tinplate and contain internal clockwork mechanisms.
Condition report:
Both toys show signs of play wear and age, including surface scratches to the lithographed finish and minor paint loss. Small areas of surface oxidisation are visible. The internal clockwork mechanisms are present but untested, and no winding keys are included. One car has an orange auction tag numbered 291 attached to the rear fin, and the other car has a small white label on the front.
