Lot 160: A large vintage jointed teddy bear in the style of Steiff
A large vintage five-way jointed teddy bear in the style of early 20th-century manufacturers such as Steiff. The bear is constructed from golden mohair plush and features amber-coloured glass eyes with a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth. The form is characteristic of the period, featuring long, tapering arms, large feet, and a prominent muzzle. The body is firmly stuffed, likely with wood wool. An orange rectangular tag is attached to the sole of the right foot with the handwritten number 160. The bear is wearing a non-original blue fabric neckerchief.
Condition report:
The mohair pile shows significant thinning and wear throughout, particularly to the torso and limbs, consistent with age and handling. Both hand pads have been repaired or recovered using a brown fabric. The foot pads are a contrasting white material. The internal joints are functional. No original manufacturer tags, buttons, or labels are present.
