A multi-volume set of The Encyclopaedia Britannica, Eleventh Edition. The volumes are quarto-sized and bound in dark morocco-style cloth or leather with gilt-stamped lettering and decorative borders to the spines and front covers. The visible volume, number two (AND to AUS), displays the title, edition, and volume contents on the spine. The front cover includes a gilt-stamped border with decorative corner motifs and the words Eleventh Edition stamped along the spine edge. The set is housed in a cardboard storage box. The text blocks show toned edges throughout.
Condition report:
The set shows heavy wear and age-related deterioration. Volume two exhibits significant scuffing, surface abrasions, and extensive white residue or staining to the front cover, suggestive of historical damp or mould. The bindings show rubbing to the extremities, shelf wear, and dust soiling. The pages are toned. No dust jackets are present. The set has not been collated for completeness.
