Lot 487: A 20th-century oak side table in the Tudor revival style
A 20th-century oak side table, of rectangular form, designed in the Tudor revival style. The piece is constructed from solid oak with a dark-stained and polished finish. The top features rounded edges and corners, positioned above a frieze decorated with a carved thumb-moulded or fluted pattern. It is raised on four baluster-turned legs, which are joined by a low-level rectangular perimeter stretcher and terminate in block feet. The design is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century British reproduction furniture manufacturers such as Wood Bros (‘Old Charm’) or Jaycee. A yellow temporary auction sticker marked L87 is adhered to the top corner; no permanent maker’s marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The table is in good, stable condition. The top surface displays visible wear, including light scratches and some minor scuffing to the edges and feet, all of which are commensurate with age and regular domestic use. The structure remains sound.
