A large oval wall mirror featuring an ornate gilt-finished frame, likely constructed from a composition material or resin. The frame is designed in a Rococo or Regency Revival style, featuring a continuous rope-twist moulded border. It is decorated with a prominent crest at the top consisting of a stylised bow, scrolling acanthus leaves, and floral motifs. Similar floral and foliate accents are situated at the cardinal points of the frame. The mirror is fitted with a bevelled glass plate. The gilding exhibits an aged tone with some accumulation of dust and darkening within the recesses of the moulding. No maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are present on the visible surfaces. An orange inventory sticker is adhered to the glass surface.
Condition report:
The bevelled mirror plate is in good overall condition, showing no significant signs of silvering loss, clouding, or foxing. The gilt frame appears structurally sound with minor surface wear and dust consistent with age. No major chips or losses to the decorative moulding are visible.
