Lot 399: A Vintage Croquet Set with Four Mallets, Three Balls, and a Decorative Carrier
A vintage croquet set comprising four traditional wooden mallets and three balls, housed within a decorative carrier. The mallets feature turned wooden heads and long handles, with two examples retaining coloured player identification bands in red and yellow. The collection of three balls includes red, blue, and a faded yellow-white. The carrier is a black cylindrical bucket in the style of a traditional fire bucket, featuring a decorative heraldic-style crest to the front depicting a red shield surrounded by gold-coloured foliate scrollwork. The bucket is fitted with a black strap handle attached via metal rings. Small orange adhesive labels are present on one mallet handle and the blue ball.
Condition report:
The set is in used vintage condition. The mallet heads show signs of impact and play-wear consistent with age and use. General surface scuffs, scratches, and wear are visible on the handles and the exterior of the carrier. Small adhesive labels remain on certain components.
