Lot 381: George III Style Mahogany Tilt-Top Piecrust Table
A George III style mahogany tilt-top tea table. The circular top is finished with a carved piecrust edge and displays a well-figured mahogany grain. It is mounted on a functional tilting mechanism, allowing the top to be stored in a vertical position as shown. The support comprises a turned central pedestal featuring a spirally-moulded wrythen section above a tripod base. The three cabriole legs are decorated with carved knees and terminate in claw-and-ball feet. This piece is a 20th-century reproduction of a mid-18th century design. Two small adhesive inventory labels are present on the tabletop and edge.
Condition report:
The table is in good overall condition with minor surface wear, light scratches, and scuffs consistent with age and domestic use. The tilting mechanism is functional.
