Lot 372: A Pair of Botanical Studies of Auriculas

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A matching pair of botanical studies depicting potted auriculas (Primula auricula). One work illustrates a variety with blue and white blossoms, while the complementary piece displays blossoms in shades of red and yellow. Each plant is shown growing from a terracotta pot suspended beneath a weathered horizontal wooden beam against a dark background. The images feature an intentional craquelure finish applied to the surface to evoke the appearance of age. The works are housed in matching green-painted wooden frames, each accented by a prominent gilt rope-twist inner slip. No signatures or artist marks are visible on the front of the works. Orange auction lot stickers numbered 372 are adhered to the lower edge of each frame.

Condition report:

The works appear to be in stable condition. The craquelure on the surface is intentional and part of the decorative finish. The frames show minor signs of surface wear and light scuffing consistent with handling. Adhesive residue or stickers are present on the lower frame edges.
