This porcelain ewer features a bulbous body and a highly ornate, shell-moulded spout. The piece is fitted with an elaborately scrolled handle and sits upon a flared, scalloped, and scrolled foot. The exterior is decorated with a shaded ground transitioning from pale green at the base to soft pink at the top. Central floral sprays, depicting anemones or wild roses, are applied to the body, appearing to be hand-finished transfer prints. The ewer is heavily embellished with gilding, including solid gold highlights on the scrolled rims, foot, and handle, as well as stippled gold sponge work surrounding the floral motifs. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces shown. An auction lot sticker is affixed to the handle.
Condition report:
The ewer appears to be in generally good condition. Visible wear is present on the gilding, particularly along the raised edges of the scrolled rim, handle, and foot, consistent with age and handling. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are evident from the provided image. The complex edges of the spout and handle should be inspected for minor fritting or glaze wear. A paper lot sticker is present on the handle.
