A pair of rectangular porcelain jar or bottle-form candle holder featuring a blue and white transfer-printed Chinoiserie pattern. The decoration depicts stylized birds amongst dense floral and foliate motifs, in a style consistent with the Iris pattern produced by manufacturers such as East Enterprises or Barnes and Ivy. The vessel has rounded shoulders leading to a short, flared neck and sits on a rectangular foot. The decoration is applied in underglaze cobalt blue over a white porcelain body. No maker marks or backstamps are visible. The item is currently shown with a white taper candle.
