Lot 28: A Collection of Chinese Export Rose Medallion Porcelain Wares
A collection of Chinese export porcelain decorated in the Rose Medallion pattern with polychrome overglaze Famille Rose enamels. The collection includes a large punch bowl, further bowls, and a baluster-form vase. Each piece features characteristic alternating trapezoidal panels depicting courtly figure scenes in garden and pavilion settings alongside panels of birds, butterflies, and floral sprays. These panels are separated by gilded grounds decorated with scrollwork and auspicious motifs. The interior centre of the primary punch bowl features a circular floral medallion. The palette is dominated by shades of rose-pink and green enamels on a white porcelain ground. The decoration is applied both to the interior and exterior of the bowls.
Condition report:
The pieces are in generally good condition with surface wear to the overglaze enamel decoration and gilding consistent with age and domestic use. An adhesive inventory sticker is present on the exterior of the primary bowl. No major chips, cracks, or restorations were observed during visual inspection.
