Lot 602: A Trio of Vintage Automobile Association AA Grille Badges
This lot comprises three vintage Automobile Association (AA) car membership badges. Two are of the classic winged design, constructed from chrome-plated metal. One of these winged badges is inscribed on the reverse with the serial number 1A90752 and the address Fanum House, New Coventry St London W 1, accompanied by the text This badge must be returned when membership ceases. The other winged badge bears the serial number 9008315 on its reverse plate. The third item is a later-style rectangular grille badge, featuring a chrome-plated metal frame and a yellow face with the black AA logo. These items were originally issued to members for display on vehicle radiators or grilles.
Condition report:
All three badges are in used condition with signs of age and weathering consistent with road use. There is noticeable pitting and surface oxidation to the chrome plating across all items. General road grime and dirt are present on both the front and rear surfaces. The yellow surface of the rectangular badge shows some light surface scratches but the colour remains clear.
