Lot 601: A Collection of Vintage Topographical and Assorted Postcards Including Barrow-in-Furness
This lot comprises a collection of vintage postcards and ephemera, primarily of a topographical and architectural nature. The lead item is a landscape-format, tinted photographic postcard depicting Abbey Road in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The image captures a street scene featuring the town’s Victorian red-brick architecture, including the prominent Town Hall, with figures and a vehicle visible in the distance. This card is printed with the vertical inscription Abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness along the left edge and bears the reference number 70182 in the upper right corner.
The remainder of the collection consists of multiple other postcards stacked beneath the lead item, which appear to include various topographical views. The cards are housed within individual protective plastic sleeves and stored inside a clear plastic tray. The printing style and subject matter of the visible cards are consistent with the early 20th century, likely dating from the Edwardian to the early inter-war period.
