Lot 202: Royal Crown Derby Imari Barn Owl Porcelain Paperweight
This fine bone china paperweight is produced by Royal Crown Derby in the form of a Barn Owl. The piece is decorated in a traditional Imari-style pattern featuring intricate geometric and feather motifs in cobalt blue and iron red, heavily accented with 22ct gold gilding. The owl’s face and eyes are further highlighted with gold-tone embellishments. The underside of the piece bears a red printed backstamp consisting of a central D monogram surmounted by a crown, surrounded by the words ROYAL CROWN DERBY and ENGLISH BONE CHINA. The Roman numerals LIX are present to the left of the mark, indicating a manufacture date of 1996. The base contains a gold-coloured ceramic stopper embossed with the factory mark and ROYAL CROWN DERBY ENGLISH BONE CHINA, signifying a first-quality item.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or evidence of restoration. There is an orange inventory sticker with the number 202 adhered to the side and the base.
