A large, decorative embossed brass charger or wall plaque attributed to Peerage, England. The central repoussé medallion depicts a traditional Dutch tavern scene with figures in seventeenth-century attire seated around a table in a rustic interior setting complete with barrels and jugs. The elaborate wide rim is decorated with high-relief scrolling acanthus leaves and swags of various fruit and foliage, featuring a grotesque foliate mask integrated into the design. The piece exhibits a natural aged patina with darkening in the recesses which serves to highlight the high-relief decoration. An auction lot sticker is present on the central field.
