Lot 41: A Collection of Assorted Ceramic and Porcelain Egg Cups including Character and Gilded Examples
A collection of ceramic and porcelain egg cups of varied form and decoration. The lot includes a group of six matching white porcelain footed egg cups featuring a gilded scrolling foliate and vine pattern, in the style of the Wisteria pattern. Character-themed examples include a Garfield egg cup dated 1978 and a Spider-Man themed cup. The lot further contains a blue and white transfer-printed example in the traditional Willow pattern, a white porcelain cup with a transfer-printed orange octopus illustration, and a lustreware example with an iridescent glaze. Additional pieces include solid colour glazed examples in light blue and green, as well as various cups decorated with floral sprays, stripes, and abstract motifs. The collection is comprised of bone china, porcelain, and earthenware items. No maker’s marks are visible as the items are positioned upright or on their sides.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition, showing surface wear and light scratches consistent with domestic use. There is some minor rubbing to the gilded decoration and transfer-printed designs on several pieces. Occasional small chips or nibbles may be present on the rims or bases of some examples.
