March timed auction
A collection of framed artworks of varying media and subjects. One work is an oil on board depicting a rural landscape with two figures in a horse-drawn cart crossing a body of water, set against a backdrop of autumnal trees and distant mountains. This work is signed and dated J.M. 95 upper right. It is housed in a dark-stained wood frame with a carved rope-twist inner border. Also included is an oil painting depicting a male figure panning for gold in a river landscape, resembling the illustrative subject The Prospector. This piece is presented in a double frame with a gilded inner border and a black outer frame. The collection further includes a work on paper, possibly a watercolour or print, depicting children on a grassy cliffside overlooking the sea, presented in a cream-coloured mount, and a monochromatic architectural print or drawing.
Condition report:
The items show general signs of age-related wear, including dust accumulation on the frames and discoloration of the mounts. The cream-coloured mount of the cliffside scene shows significant surface abrasion, staining, and foxing.
