This work is an oil on canvas reproduction of the 18th-century Veduta painting titled The Stonemason’s Yard, originally by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The scene depicts a foreground of stonemasons at work with blocks of Istrian stone in the Campo San Vidal, looking across to the church of San Vidal and its campanile. The work is executed with smooth and detailed brushwork on a stretched canvas. No signatures, inscriptions, or maker’s marks are visible on the face of the painting. The work is presented in a contemporary moulded gilt frame with a beaded inner border.
Condition report:
The painting is in overall good condition with no visible craquelure, paint loss, or significant surface dirt. The canvas appears stable and the frame shows only minor signs of handling.
