Lot 339: A Pair of British School 19th Century Maritime Watercolours

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A pair of maritime watercolours on paper executed in a traditional 19th-century British style. The first work depicts a beached sailing vessel in the foreground with another ship in choppy coastal waters near a cliff, featuring small figures on the shore. The second work is an atmospheric seascape showing waves under a hazy sky with distant sails on the horizon. The works are executed in watercolour on paper. Illegible characters are present in the lower right corner of the first watercolour, while no signature or date is visible on the second. Both pieces are housed in matching dark-stained wood frames with off-white mounts. Lot stickers numbered 339 and smaller labels numbered 8 are present on the glass.

Condition report:

Both watercolours show light toning and minor fading consistent with age. No significant foxing or water damage is apparent. The frames and mounts are in good condition with some surface dust.
