An Art Deco style figurative brooch crafted from silver, depicting a stylized female figure in profile. The figure is designed with an elaborate gown and wing-like sleeves featuring intricate openwork and scrolling. The body and headpiece are densely pavé-set with numerous rose-cut marcasites. The head is represented by a polished black stone, likely onyx or black glass, and the lower section of the gown is further accented with two small black cabochon stones. The reverse of the brooch reveals a horizontal pin mechanism with a hinge and catch. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or signatures are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good overall condition. The silver metal displays a darkened patina and surface tarnish consistent with age. Upon inspection, all marcasite stones and the three black stones appear to be present and securely set. The pin mechanism is functional.
