Buyer's Premium:

A collection of British topographical and scenic postcards dating from the early to mid-20th century. The lot comprises an assortment of monochrome, sepia, and early colour lithograph cards, as well as real photographic (RP) examples. The subject matter focuses on landmarks and landscapes across the United Kingdom. Identified views include the Thames Embankment in London, the Bridge of Sighs in Cambridge, and Scottish locations including the Douglas Room at Stirling Castle, Crathie Church at Balmoral, and Glencoe. Regional views from the South West of England include Polperro, Rockham Bay at Woolacombe, and the Horseshoe Bend at Cheddar Gorge. Further subjects include St. Martin’s Church in Wareham, Beaulieu Abbey, Boldre Wood Road in the New Forest, and St. Andrews Churchyard in Penrith. Printed marks include Philco Series 2095 A and various series numbers such as 43618.


Condition report:

The cards are in mixed vintage condition. Observable defects include corner bumping, edge wear, and age-related toning and foxing consistent with age and storage. Some cards show evidence of slight bowing.
