A substantial rectangular iron fire basket or garden brazier of English design. The piece is constructed with a wrought iron slatted body and base, supported by four tall square-section legs terminating in block feet. The upper corners are surmounted by four cast iron finials of stylised acorn or urn form. The frame features a central decorative floral boss on the front rail. The design incorporates elements of the Neo-Classical and Gothic Revival styles, typical of late 19th or early 20th-century metalware. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The item is in a weathered condition consistent with outdoor use or storage. The black painted finish shows significant wear, flaking, and surface oxidation throughout. There is a heavy accumulation of moss and lichen on the legs and lower frame. The iron structure remains robust with no apparent structural failures or missing slats.
