Lot 492: A Victorian style cast iron rectangular garden planter
A large rectangular garden planter or trough of cast iron construction. The form features a heavily reeded and gadrooned rim. The side panels are decorated with vertical ribbing and stylised foliate relief. The interior contains a modern green plastic liner. No maker’s marks or foundry stamps are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The exterior displays a dark, weathered patina. The interior shows significant surface oxidation and rust, with visible moss and algae growth from outdoor exposure. There is evidence of wear and unevenness to one corner of the rim.
