Lot 334: Two Items Comprising a Vintage Galvanised Steel Wash Tub and a Rococo Revival Style Brass Fireplace Poker

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot consists of two separate metalware items. The first is a rectangular galvanised steel wash tub of a type common in the early to mid-20th century. The construction features sheet metal with three horizontal strengthening ribs around the body and a rolled top rim. While visually similar to tubs produced by manufacturers such as Wheeling, no maker marks are present on the surface. An orange adhesive inventory label marked 334 is attached to the rim. The second item is a decorative fireplace poker cast in a yellow-toned metal, likely brass or bronze. The handle is designed in the Rococo Revival style with intricate pierced foliate and scroll motifs. The shaft features faceted sections. A white inventory sticker marked LL 17 is adhered to the shaft. No permanent manufacturer stamps or inscriptions are visible on either piece.

Condition report:

The galvanised tub shows significant signs of age and utilitarian use, including a weathered grey patina and areas of surface rust and corrosion concentrated along the upper rim and corners. The fireplace poker is in generally good condition with minor surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with age and exposure to heat.
