A rectangular japanned tray, possibly by Worcester Ware, displays a black lacquered finish with hand-painted Chinoiserie decoration depicting an oriental landscape with pagodas and bridges, surrounded by a geometric border with floral cartouches. A wooden tray frame with a turned handle is also present. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the upper surfaces. A white sticker with the numbers 17 17 is present on the japanned tray, and an orange circular sticker is present on the brass tray.
Condition report:
The brass tray shows significant tarnish and surface oxidation throughout. The silver-plated tray exhibits surface wear, light tarnish, and fine scratching consistent with use and polishing. The japanned tray is in fair to poor condition, showing significant clouding or bloom to the lacquer finish, surface spotting, and wear to the painted decoration. Adhesive stickers are present on the surfaces of the brass and japanned trays.
