Lot 281: British School, 20th Century, Impressionist Landscape with Village and Hilltop Monument
This 20th-century landscape painting, likely oil or acrylic on board or heavy paper, depicts a village cluster of white and pastel-coloured buildings at the base of a verdant hill. The hill is crowned by a tall stone monument or tower. The work is executed in a contemporary impressionistic style characterised by broad, expressive brushwork and localised impasto, particularly within the cloud-filled sky and wooded slopes. No artist signature or date is clearly visible on the face of the work. The painting is presented behind glass within a neutral-toned mount and a modern, light-washed wood frame.
