Lot 31:
This pair of sauce tureens, covers, and matching stands is decorated in the Burgenland pattern, which is attributed to Villeroy and Boch. Each piece is constructed from earthenware with a deep cobalt blue transfer-printed design. The pattern features a dense, all-over arrangement of various floral sprays, scrolling foliage, and acanthus-style leaves, framed by borders of repetitive geometric and floral motifs. The tureens are of a rounded, lobed form featuring two scrolling side handles. The matching domed covers are designed with a floral-style finial and a notch to accommodate a ladle. Each tureen is paired with a corresponding oval stand that features scrolled handles at either end. No factory marks are visible on the bases or bodies in the provided images, though the style and pattern are consistent with mid-to-late 19th-century European production.
Both tureens and stands appear to be in good overall condition. There are no major chips, cracks, or visible repairs evident from the provided angles. There is minor surface wear and small glaze imperfections consistent with age and the manufacturing process. Auction lot stickers are present on the lids.
