Lot 210b: D. Robinson, 'Floral Composition with Butterflies' and a Suite of Decorative Paintings (Signed)
A suite of four decorative artworks comprising various subjects and formats. The primary piece is a square floral composition on board featuring a bouquet of pink peonies and purple flowers in a white pitcher. The pitcher is decorated with three butterfly motifs in brown and gold tones. The background is a textured sage green with cream-coloured cursive script and a wire basket of roses to the right. A painted signature in the lower left corner reads D. Robinson. The work is held in a cream-coloured composite frame. The collection also includes a large, square, unframed contemporary figurative painting on canvas depicting the back of a woman with a dark bob haircut wearing a red dress with a full skirt, set against a gestural background with architectural sketches in charcoal and red paint. Two further vertical framed works are included: a still life of pink flowers in three ceramic vases on a pink ground, and a study of a white orchid in a purple pot. Both are housed in simple wood-effect frames. A small printed adhesive label is visible on the upper frame of the two vertical pieces and the square floral piece, but these appear to be temporary inventory markings.
Condition report:
The collection appears in generally good decorative condition. The unframed canvas shows minor wear and slight fraying to the extreme edges (photo 3). The cream frame of the D. Robinson painting has minor surface scuffs at the corners (photo 2). The two vertical framed works show minor separation at the mitred corners of the wood-effect frames (photo 1). No significant losses, tears, or structural damage are visible across the suite.
