Lot 560: A Vintage 9 Carat Yellow Gold and Diamond Signet Ring Weight: 8.11 grams.
A vintage men’s signet ring crafted from 9 carat yellow gold. The ring features a shield-shaped face with a central star-set round brilliant cut diamond. The face is decorated with an engraved square border and diagonal hatching, leading to shoulders embellished with foliate scrollwork. The interior of the shank bears a series of four struck hallmarks in rectangular cartouches. These include the purity mark 9 and 375, an anchor town mark for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a stylized lowercase letter c date mark. A maker’s mark is also present consisting of the characters HG&S in a rectangular cartouche. A small adhesive white paper label reading 9k is attached to the interior of the shank.

Condition report:
The ring is in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. Surface scratches and minor nicks are visible across the gold surfaces (photo 1). There is a significant accumulation of dirt and tarnish to the underside of the head and the interior of the shank (photo 1). The engraved details on the face and shoulders show some softening from use but remain legible. The diamond appears secure in its setting.
