Lot 464: A contemporary cream painted pine seven drawer chest
A contemporary pine chest of drawers finished in an off-white cream paint with a distressed glaze effect. The carcass features a three-over-four configuration, comprising three small top drawers above four wider drawers arranged in two rows. Each drawer front is detailed with moulded edges and fitted with turned wooden knobs finished to match the body. The chest is supported by four turned bun feet. The construction utilizes solid pine throughout, visible in the grain textures beneath the painted finish. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces of the piece.
Condition report:
The chest shows overall signs of use consistent with age and functional wear. There are visible scuffs and surface abrasions across the top surface (photo 1). The painted finish exhibits wear and thinning on the drawer edges and the protruding surfaces of the wooden knobs (photo 1). A dark linear scratch is present on the front panel of the bottom right drawer (photo 1). The intentional distressed finish incorporates simulated wear, which blends with actual surface marks. No structural damage or missing components are observed.
