A collection of silver-plated tableware featuring a straight-sided oval teapot and two sets of flatware in presentation boxes. The antique teapot is constructed from electroplated base metal and decorated with bright-cut engraving depicting foliate wreaths and swags between geometric borders. The vessel features a curved spout, a hinged flat lid with a dark turned finial, and a C-scroll handle with visible insulation pins.
The first flatware set is housed in a cream and burgundy textured case and contains three serving pieces: a large spoon, a smaller spoon, and a sugar sifter spoon, all featuring beaded borders to the handles. Small marks are present on the reverse of the handles but are not legible. The second set is presented in a red-lined box with a gold-striped exterior and comprises six teaspoons and a larger serving spoon. These pieces feature a geometric Art Deco style terminal to the handles. Stamped marks are present on the stems of these spoons but the characters are not legible. A yellow adhesive price label reading 94 is attached to the interior of each case.
Condition report:
The teapot shows significant tarnishing and oxidation across the body and lid (photo 2). There is visible wear to the silver plating on the handle and high points of the engraving, revealing the base metal beneath (photo 2). The flatware sets exhibit heavy surface tarnishing and darkening consistent with oxidation (photo 1). The interior fabric of the presentation boxes shows light staining and impressions from the flatware (photo 1).
