This lot comprises two lighting-related items. The primary piece is a large hurricane-style electric table lamp. It features a bell-shaped glass shade in an amber tone, finished with a crimped or ruffled top rim and decorated with an etched floral and scrollwork pattern. The body of the lamp includes a central ceramic section featuring a transfer-printed equestrian scene of a fox hunt, depicting a rider in a red coat on horseback accompanied by hounds. This ceramic element is situated between a deep red glazed upper section and a cast metal pedestal base with a patinated gold-toned finish. A white electrical power cord is attached to the base. The second item is a miniature decorative oil lamp. The base consists of a clear glass cylindrical vessel filled with decorative layers of multi-coloured sand. It is fitted with a metal burner assembly that holds a wick, topped with a small clear glass chimney featuring a ruffled rim.
Condition report:
The large electric lamp shows significant signs of age and use. The metal pedestal base exhibits surface oxidation, pitting, and loss of the gold-toned finish (photo 1). The etched glass shade is intact but carries a layer of surface dust and grime. The electrical components are untested and the lamp would require professional rewiring for modern safety standards. The miniature oil lamp appears to be in good decorative condition, though the wick shows signs of singeing from previous use (photo 1).
