Lot 37: An Arched Dark Wood Wall Mirror with Bevelled Plate
A wall mirror of rectangular form featuring a rounded arched top, constructed with a dark-stained wooden frame. The frame has a flat profile with visible mitred joints at the base. The mirror plate is set within the frame and features a bevelled edge. An orange adhesive rectangular label is present on the upper left-hand side of the frame, bearing a handwritten ’37’. A small metal eyelet or ring is fixed to the right-hand side of the wooden frame. The mirror glass shows significant silvering loss and foxing, particularly concentrated towards the lower edge and around the perimeter of the arch.
Condition report:
The mirror plate shows significant silvering loss and foxing across the surface, appearing as dark spots and clouding, most notably at the lower section and along the bevelled edges (photo 1). The wooden frame has a visible hairline crack or separation in the timber at the top left shoulder of the arch (photo 1). There is general surface wear and minor scuffing to the wood consistent with age.
