Lot 495: Large Contemporary Mixed Media Abstract Composition with Metallic Nest Motif
A large-scale contemporary mixed-media abstract composition executed on a deep gallery-wrapped support, likely canvas or panel. The central focal point is a circular, heavily textured nest-like structure composed of tangled metallic or synthetic silver-toned strips. From this central motif, multiple linear elements radiate vertically and horizontally across the surface. The ground consists of a pale off-white impasto with a matte, textured finish. Rectangular sections of silver-toned wire mesh or scrim are applied to the upper left and lower right corners, with a smaller square section in the lower left. The upper right quadrant features incised geometric lines and a small circular metallic inclusion. The textured ground extends over the deep side edges. A small orange square adhesive sticker is located in the upper right quadrant, containing no legible text. A small white rectangular tag is affixed to the lower centre edge, bearing a handwritten mark that appears to include a pound sign followed by two or three illegible digits. No artist signature or date is visible on the primary face.
Condition report:
The work is in overall good condition. Minor fraying is visible along the edges of the applied mesh elements, which appears to be part of the artist\'s original aesthetic intent. There is a light accumulation of surface dust within the deeper recesses of the impasto and mesh (photo 1). A small, non-original orange sticker is adhered to the upper right surface. No significant paint loss or structural damage to the support is evident.
