Lot 352: A Mid-Century Modern Space Age Style Chrome Floor Lamp with Black Drum Shade
A mid-century modern style floor lamp featuring a polished chrome-plated metal base and a matching stem with a bulbous lower section. The lamp is fitted with a large, tall cylindrical drum shade upholstered in black fabric. The electrical assembly includes a black power cord with an inline circular foot switch. As a vintage electrical item, this is sold as a decorative object and must be inspected and PAT tested by a qualified electrician prior to use. A small orange rectangular adhesive label is present on the bulbous section of the chrome base, featuring the hand-written numerals ‘1, 0, 0’. A second, identical orange label is located further down the stem. No manufacturer’s marks or signatures are visible on the metalwork or shade.
Condition report:
The polished chrome-plated finish exhibits an accumulation of surface dust, fingerprints, and minor light scratches throughout the base and stem (photo 1). The black fabric shade shows a light covering of lint and dust (photo 1). No significant dents or structural damage are visible to the metal body.
