Lot 344: A Pair of Contemporary Metal Table Lamps with Cream Bell Shades
A pair of contemporary table lamps of simple, modernist design. The lamps feature rectangular metal bases and slender circular stems, finished in a dark-brown or black textured coating. Each is fitted with a flared bell-shaped shade made from cream-toned fabric with taped seams and edges. The bases each bear a small square white adhesive label, one of which is marked with a handwritten L in black ink. The electrical fittings comprise black cords leading to UK 3-pin plugs, with one lamp fitted with a white plug and the other with a black plug. No maker marks, signatures, or branding are visible on any component of the lamps.
Condition report:
The lamps are in used condition. Both cream fabric shades show prominent yellow staining and discolouration along the vertical taped seams and upper and lower edges (photo 1). One shade has an orange adhesive lot tag marked 344 attached to the exterior (photo 1). There is surface dust and light wear across the metal bases and stems. These electrical items are sold as untested; professional PAT testing is required prior to use.
