Lot 261: A Set of Woven Folk-Pattern Table Linens in Red, Black, and White
A group of woven textiles comprising a large rectangular tablecloth and matching napkins. The pieces are constructed from a heavy textured fabric, likely a cotton or cotton-linen blend, featuring a traditional folk-style aesthetic. The colour palette consists of bold red, black, and white. The tablecloth is decorated with large blocks of contrasting colour and wide borders displaying woven foliate and scroll motifs. The napkins feature a central red eight-pointed star design set against a black ground, enclosed within a red geometric border. A small white and orange adhesive label is present on one folded piece, printed with the characters 10 10 on the first line and 261 on the second line within an orange box; this appears to be a contemporary inventory sticker. No woven maker labels, signatures, or embroidered monograms are visible on the textiles.
Condition report:
The set exhibits signs of use and storage. A noticeable brown stain is present on a white section of the tablecloth near the upper centre (photo 1). Significant fraying and loose threads are visible along the edges and at the corners of several pieces. The fabric is heavily creased from being stored folded.
