Lot 258: Milo (20th Century), Abstract Composition
An abstract composition executed in watercolour and mixed media on heavy wove paper. The work features dynamic, sweeping rhythmic strokes and overlapping curved lines in a palette of primary blue, rose-pink, and pale ochre. The composition incorporates a large, textured circular form in the lower-left corner and faint linear triangular motifs in the upper-right, executed with what appear to be pastel or chalk highlights over watercolour washes. The artwork is signed in the upper-right quadrant in handwritten blue script reading Milo. The piece is presented under glass within a wide, pale olive-green mount and a narrow, metallic-toned frame. An orange rectangular adhesive label is attached to the top-left corner of the mount bearing the printed number 258.
Condition report:
The artwork appears to be in good overall condition with no visible foxing, staining, or light damage to the pigments. There is minor undulation to the paper, which is characteristic of the watercolour medium (photo 1). The frame shows light surface wear and minor scuffing to the edges (photo 1). The mount is clean and shows no signs of mat burn or discolouration.
