Lot 115: A Pair of Silver-Plated Table Candelabra
A pair of silver-plated table candelabra of differing configurations. The first example is a five-light candelabrum featuring a central sconce and four radiating scrolled arms. The sconces are of campana form with fluted detailing. The central column is gadrooned and tapers towards a circular, domed base decorated with an embossed foliate and geometric border. The second example is a three-light candelabrum consisting of a central sconce and two upward-curving arms. It features plain campana-style sconces and sits on a simple, stepped circular base. Both items bear orange adhesive tags reading 115 and white square stickers reading 4. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
Both candelabra exhibit significant surface tarnish and oxidation across all components (photo 1). Residual candle wax is present inside the sconces. There is visible wear to the silver plating, particularly on high-relief areas and edges, where the base metal is beginning to show through. The arms of the five-light candelabrum appear slightly misaligned (photo 1).
