Lot 91: A Collection of White Porcelain Tea and Tableware with Gilt Rims
A collection of white porcelain tea and tableware, characterised by vertically fluted bodies and a simple gilt band to the rims and handles. The group comprises a cream jug with a scroll handle, a sugar bowl, several teacups, a stack of saucers, and a large serving plate. The serving plate is decorated with an ornate relief-moulded border featuring scroll and shell motifs. A small white adhesive label marked 4 is attached to the handle of the cream jug, and two orange rectangular adhesive labels, each marked 16, are positioned on the interior of a teacup and the surface of the top saucer in the stack. No printed or painted maker’s marks are visible on the upper surfaces of the pieces.
Condition report:
A teacup displays visible brown staining to its interior base (photo 1). The gilt decoration exhibits signs of rubbing and wear, particularly notable on the rim of the cream jug and the edges of the cups (photo 1). No major chips, cracks, or restorations are visible from the provided image.
