Lot 601: An Assortment of UK and World Coins in a Dark-Finished Storage Box
An assortment of multiple coins, primarily UK pre-decimal currency, housed in a rectangular dark-finished storage box. The collection includes various bronze pennies featuring the seated Britannia reverse and the inscription ONE PENNY, as well as several large silver-coloured coins including half-crowns and florins. The coins represent a range of denominations and metals, including bronze and copper-nickel. The box is fitted with two small metal hinges and a central latch. A white rectangular adhesive paper label is adhered to the interior rim of the box, featuring the handwritten numbers 18 18 in black ink.
Condition report:
The coins are in poor to fair circulated condition, showing heavy wear to the relief, surface abrasions, and deep toning (photo 1). Notable instances of green verdigris corrosion are present on several bronze pieces. The storage box shows general surface scuffing, edge wear, and loss of finish, particularly adjacent to the hinges and latch.
