Lot 190: A Collection of Masonic Regalia and Ritual Ephemera in a Monarch Case

Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of Masonic regalia and associated ephemera housed within a silver-toned metal briefcase. The interior of the case features a black leather strap embossed with the name MONARCH in gold-tone lettering. The collection includes royal blue fabric regalia with gold-tone braided trim and fringed edges, comprising a collaret with a central gold-tone button and an apron. Accompanying the fabric items are several printed and typed documents. A white softcover booklet is titled THE CEREMONIES of a CHAPTER OF PRINCE ROSE CROIX OF HEREDOM OF THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED RITE FOR ENGLAND AND WALES. A blue softcover booklet is titled MARK RITUAL NO. 2 1998 (Reprinted 2001) and bears the handwritten year 2003 on the cover. The lot further includes a circular white enamel badge with a gold-tone border and central crest, a smaller metal jewel, a dark rectangular presentation box, and a loose typed sheet containing a verse beginning THERE WAS RUNDLE, STATION MASTER / AN’ ACKMAN, COM… / AN’ DONKIN, COM… / AN’ SAULT, THE… / WITH MR COOKS… / OUR MAKE… / REFRAIN… / OLD RAM… / WITH HI… / AN’ SAU… / AN’ BOLA… / THERE… / AN’ TH… / AN’ THE… / AN’ C… / THE…. The regalia appears to represent the Rose Croix and Mark Master Mason orders.


Condition report:

The collection shows signs of age and ceremonial use. The fabric regalia exhibits light surface wear and minor fraying to the gold-tone braided trim and fringe (photo 1). The paper items, particularly the white ritual booklet and the typed sheets, show significant creasing, edge wear, and yellowing consistent with age (photo 1). The metal briefcase shows light scuffing and oxidation to the exterior frame and minor wear to the interior lining. The enamel badge appears intact with no visible losses to the enamel.
