Lot 620: A Vintage Black Metal-Bound Steamer Trunk
A vintage travel chest of rectangular form, featuring a black-finished exterior over a wood or composite frame. The piece is reinforced with metal banding across the top and front, protective corner brackets, and numerous dome-headed metal studs. It is fitted with three substantial metal latches on the front. A heavily worn rectangular paper label is adhered to the lower-left front, displaying a stylised character resembling an S or a 5.
Condition report:
The chest is in well-used, as-found condition. There is significant oxidation and surface rust to all metal components, including latches, bands, and studs. The black exterior finish shows widespread scuffing, scratches, and areas of loss, particularly along the lid and corners. The paper label is torn and illegible. The piece has an accumulation of dust and surface grime. Interior condition has not been inspected.
