An assortment of hardback and softcover volumes primarily focused on the local history, topography, and industrial heritage of the Furness and Lake District regions of Northern England. The group includes Bulmer’s History and Directory of Furness and Cartmel, bound in red cloth with gilt lettering; Furness and the Industrial Revolution by J. D. Marshall (1958); and three volumes from A. Wainwright’s Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells series (The Central Fells, The Far Eastern Fells, and The Southern Fells), each in original dust jackets. Also present are a Dent edition of Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas; The Lear Omnibus edited by R. L. Megroz; and two copies of Barrow Girls’ Grammar School – Ninety Nine Years by Elizabeth Mauchline Roberts. Condition report:
Condition varies throughout the collection. Bulmer\'s Directory exhibits significant fading to the spine cloth and dulled gilt. The Under Milk Wood dust jacket has a large vertical tear and loss to the spine. The Wainwright guides show general edge wear and light sunning to the dust jackets. Common defects across the lot include bumped corners, some spotting to page edges, and general shelf wear to cloth bindings and paper wrappers.
