Lot 487: A vintage turned hardwood police truncheon
A traditional police truncheon constructed from a single piece of turned hardwood. The item features a tapered cylindrical body that expands towards a bulbous striking end. The handle is integrated into the design, characterised by multiple incised rings to provide grip, terminating in a rounded pommel. The surface retains a polished finish with a natural wood grain visible throughout. An orange adhesive lot tag marked L57 is adhered to the body.
Condition report:
The truncheon shows signs of age-related wear and functional use. There are numerous surface scuffs, scratches, and small indentations across the entirety of the wooden body. The original varnish finish displays areas of thinning and wear. A small area of white residue or paint transfer is visible on the lower section of the striking end.
