Lot 426: A White-Lacquered Refracting Telescope and Folding Wooden Tripod
A refracting telescope featuring a white-lacquered cylindrical main tube with black-finished fittings at both ends. The instrument is accompanied by a collapsible wooden tripod, constructed from a light-coloured hardwood and featuring black metal support bands and wing-nut tension adjusters. The items are stored in a black case with a red-lined interior. An orange rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the main tube, marked with the handwritten numerals 426. A partial wooden folding rule is visible in the upper background showing markings for 3 and 4 inches.
Condition report:
The telescope tube and wooden tripod appear in generally good cosmetic condition with minor surface marks consistent with age and use. The red interior lining of the case shows significant wear, including deformation and creasing. The optical clarity of the lenses and the mechanical function of the focusing mechanism have not been verified.
