Lot 339: Three Vintage Boxed Model Railway Power Control Units including Meccano and Hammant & Morgan
A trio of vintage model railway power control units, each housed in its original manufacturer cardboard box. The first unit is a Meccano Power Control Unit A3, manufactured by Meccano Ltd., Liverpool. It is presented in a blue and white striped box with an illustration of the beige controller unit on the front. This unit is designed for use on alternating current to provide D.C. and A.C. low voltage outputs. The second unit is a Hammant & Morgan Duette Dual-Control Unit, manufactured by Hammant & Morgan Ltd., Handem Works, Watford. It is contained in a teal box with a large pink paper label applied to the front. The label details technical specifications including two independent 12v D.C. controlled outputs, 12v D.C. uncontrolled, and 16v A.C. uncontrolled outputs with a maximum output of 2 amps. The third unit is a Hammant & Morgan Duette Transformer Controller, manufactured by Hammant & Morgan Limited. It is housed in a pictorial box featuring photographs of model locomotives. This twin-track transformer is designed for OO and N-gauge model railways, allowing for the independent control of two trains.
Condition report:
The units have not been tested for electrical functionality and are sold as collectors\' items only. The original cardboard boxes show age-related wear consistent with vintage items, including edge scuffing, corner bumping, surface creasing, and minor tearing. The pink label on the Duette Dual-Control Unit shows some fading and discolouration. The pictorial box for the Duette Transformer Controller features an orange price sticker on the upper right corner and shows some staining and shelf wear.
