Lot 199: Royal Crown Derby Bone China Barn Owl Figurine by H. Wilson 1974
A Royal Crown Derby fine bone china figurine depicting a Barn Owl, naturalistically modelled and hand-painted with a glazed finish. The owl is portrayed with its head turned to the right and tilted downwards, perched upon a textured tree-stump base decorated with hand-applied green ivy leaves. The underside of the base features the red printed Royal Crown Derby factory mark comprising a crown surmounting a monogram with crossed batons and dots, alongside the text Derby China, Royal Crown Derby, and English Bone China. The piece is titled Barn Owl in black print and bears the red printed Roman numeral year cipher XXXVII, dating the manufacture to 1974. A hand-painted signature for the artist H. Wilson is also present on the base.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair. The delicate applied ivy leaves appear to be fully intact. Two adhesive labels are present on the side of the tree-stump base.
